Noemi’s story: from Lovere-Boario to Cleveland Heights (USA) for one year, with Intercultura and the support of Fondazione Pesenti.
The journey continues!
First quarter: September 2018
Second quarter: December 2018
Third quarter: March 2019
THIRD QUARTER: DECEMBER 2018 – FEBRUARY 2019
Noemi is telling us, month by month, about her amazing experience abroad, thanks to the year-long Intercultura program in the USA.
Relationship with the host family:
For some time now, I have been with a new family made up of a mom who is always understanding and very funny, a 16-year-old sister who is very smart and enjoys spending time with her friends, an older sister who is in college and whom I cannot wait to meet, and a dad who works in Florida but comes to visit us every three or four weeks. They are all very welcoming and kind to me, and they never let me lack anything!
Relationship with the host community and friends:
It is still a bit difficult to feel like an integral part of this community, but I try to take part in many activities to achieve that.
Integration and school performance, both in terms of academic results and personal relationships with teachers and students:
School performance is going quite well; my grades are mostly A’s and B’s, and the teachers are satisfied.
Relationships with the students are fair.
Extracurricular activities:
I joined a ski club and did tryouts for figure skating.
I am also part of the lacrosse team and the singers group, with which I will soon be performing several concerts.
The 3 things I will never forget (positive):
Lacrosse.
Musical Mary Poppins.
Senior project.
The 3 things I will never forget (negative, if any):
Social life.
Changing families.
Health issues.
