First Term: September – November 2018
Relationships with the host family:
My host family is kind, but the relationships feel emotionally distant. That sense of “family” — which is so important for an exchange student — is something I feel is missing.
Relationships with the host community and friends:
At first, building relationships within the host community was challenging due to cultural and social class differences. However, little by little, I’m forming good friendships, especially with other exchange students and with teens who have previously hosted.
School integration and academic progress, both in terms of performance and personal relationships with teachers and classmates:
School integration has been smooth academically — I haven’t faced many difficulties. The teachers are truly well-prepared and approachable. There are a lot of students, but many are not very sociable and seem unmotivated when it comes to school.
Extracurricular activities:
I’ve started playing tennis and joined activities connected to the school’s sports club.
