Sara is telling us, month by month, about her amazing experience abroad, thanks to the year-long Intercultura program in the USA.
Relationship with the host family:
With my host family I feel at home, we get along very well and I always know that I can trust them and that they will always be there to help me.
Relationship with the host community and friends:
Having started new extracurricular activities, I had the opportunity to meet new people and I am very grateful for that.
Integration and school performance, both in terms of academic results and personal relationships with teachers and students:
At first, I thought the Italian school system was better than the American one, but thanks to this experience I understood that the USA offers many extracurricular activities that we do not have, and that it’s not bad, it’s not bad, it’s different.
Extracurricular activities:
Feeling part of a team is the best thing that has happened to me during this experience. I had the chance to build new friendships and have fun with new friends.
The 3 things I will never forget (positive):
My first track meet.
The trip to Tampa with my host family.
Volunteering at my Thai sister’s lacrosse games.
The 3 things I will never forget (negative, if any):
How difficult it is to get around independently.
Not having eaten an Italian pizza for six months.
Homesickness.
