61st Edition of the International Piano Festival of Brescia and Bergamo

In 2024, the International Piano Festival of Brescia and Bergamo celebrated its 61st edition, continuing a tradition that began in 1964 and is now among the longest-running in the European music scene.

Following the celebration of the 60th edition, which coincided with “Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Culture”, the Festival continued its cultural journey with a new chapter dedicated to Vienna—a city symbolic of the great Western musical tradition and home to Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and the waltz.

This edition offered a wide-ranging journey through the 19th and 20th centuries, covering two centuries of masterpieces with a program designed to rediscover great music while offering contemporary perspectives. A musical itinerary capable of moving audiences emotionally while also inspiring deeper listening and reflection. Alongside the main concert series, the Festival launched numerous side initiatives throughout the province—in schools, conservatories, and within the University of Bergamo.

The goal was to engage younger generations and make classical music more accessible and inclusive. In line with this mission is the long-standing collaboration with Fondazione Pesenti, which has supported the Festival’s educational and outreach projects in Bergamo and the surrounding area since 2016. Once again in 2024, the Foundation chose to accompany the Festival on this cultural journey, helping to promote the value of great music in a way that is open, participatory, and educational.
