For over forty years, VIDAS has been caring for the most vulnerable individuals affected by incurable illnesses, providing expert medical assistance combined with deep humanity.
Thanks to the generosity of its donors, VIDAS established Casa Sollievo Bimbi—the first pediatric hospice in Lombardy—dedicated to seriously ill children and adolescents and their families.
The facility welcomes young patients in six mini-apartments, designed to offer a homelike environment with customizable spaces and continuous parental access. Common areas encourage play and social interaction for children, as well as emotional support for family members.
Casa Sollievo Bimbi (children’s hospice) is based on four main functions:
- Empowering parents, preparing them to manage their child’s care at home after hospitalization.
- Providing relief to families, offering rest and respite to caregivers.
- Clinical reassessment, through short stays to monitor and adjust therapeutic plans.
- End-of-life accompaniment, in a welcoming and dignified setting for those unable to spend their final days at home.
This service is delivered by a highly specialized multidisciplinary team in pediatric palliative care, consisting of over 70 healthcare professionals and supported by 140 volunteers.
Fondazione Pesenti has chosen to support VIDAS and Casa Sollievo Bimbi, sharing their commitment to healthcare and social assistance projects, and helping to provide dignity, compassion, and relief to young patients and their families.
