Trapezio Foundation | Amici della Scala (“Friends of La Scala”) Association

In keeping with its ongoing commitment to culture and the arts, Fondazione Pesenti supported the traditional publishing initiative of the Amici della Scala Association.

The latest editorial project is a monographic volume dedicated to the renowned set designer Vittorio Rota (1864–1945), a central figure in the theatrical scene between the 19th and 20th centuries. A key presence on the stages of Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Rota worked with great masters of his time, including Toscanini, Serafin, and Marinuzzi.

Richly illustrated, the volume—edited by Vittoria Crespi Morbio—traces his career through in-depth archival research and valuable previously unpublished material, including original sketches and vintage photographs.

The Amici della Scala publications, produced in a bilingual Italian-English edition, are distributed free of charge to major libraries in Italy and abroad, helping to preserve and promote important chapters in the history of theater and stage design.
