“Dino and Dario. Two boys in the Shoah”: workshop supported by Fondazione Pesenti

Fondazione Pesenti supported the educational project promoted by Fondazione CDEC and the Fondazione Memoriale della Shoah, aimed at primary schools to combat antisemitic stereotypes and promote the memory of the Holocaust. At the heart of the initiative is the workshop “Dino and Dario. Two Boys in the Shoah”, supported by Fondazione Pesenti along with UniCredit Foundation and Fondazione Agnelli.

Using archival materials, educational tools, illustrations, and narrative texts, students reconstruct the lives of the young Jewish boys Dino and Dario Molho, who in 1938 were forced to leave public school for a Jewish school due to the racial laws. The educational path helps students understand the impact of anti-Jewish legislation, the deportation of Jews from Italy, and the importance of active citizenship. But there’s more: students also learn how to analyze documents and sources, distinguish between narrative and historical reconstruction, and piece together the biographical journeys of the main characters.

The workshop, designed by Patrizia Baldi and Saverio Colacicco, with texts by Antonio Ferrara (Andersen Prize winner), is paired with a visit to the Holocaust Memorial in Milan. An initiative that brings together memory, education, and training for democracy.
