Fondazione Pesenti for Casamicciola with the Installation “Ma Noo”

This evening, in the square in front of the Town Hall of Casamicciola Terme (NA), the sculpture “Ma Noo” by sculptor Guido Scarabottolo will be inaugurated as a gesture of closeness and solidarity following the landslide, thanks to the support of Fondazione Pesenti ETS.

“Ma Noo” is a work carved from a 32 quintal block of Adamello Tonalite, measuring 13524245 cm, representing an open hand extended to help the community—a tribute and gesture of solidarity after the landslide that struck the municipality.

The sculpture will be placed horizontally and will also serve as a bench. Fondazione Pesenti ETS had already sponsored in 2019—also on Ischia—the installation of the Vatican Pavilion’s lettering from Expo 2015 on the Forio tower, which will soon be relocated to the Punta Imperatore Lighthouse to define an artistic route, conceived together with Arte Sella and PIDA, called the “Path of the Phaeacians.”

The project is promoted by the association PIDA (International Architecture Prize Ischia), which tonight in Porto Forio will also present the work “Infinity Seat,” born from the idea of architect Ian Ritchie, who wished to connect two places dear to him: the Arte Sella park and the island of Ischia, through the installation of two benches that ideally link the beauty of the mountain territory and the marine one, in a sort of twinning.

Since 2008, the association has been active in the international architectural cultural scene with its promotional activities on the island through awards, workshops, conferences, and donations (in collaboration with Prof. Marco Imperadori, Professor at Politecnico di Milano and Advisor to Fondazione Pesenti, and various sponsors) of works by internationally renowned architects and artists.

To mention a few, in 2019 the wooden sculpture “Byobu Casamicciola” by Architect Atsushi Kitagawara was donated and placed in the area in front of the (currently unusable) Casamicciola Town Hall, as well as last year the sculpture “Iwakura Musashino” by Architect Kengo Kuma was donated to the Municipality of Forio in the new square at the port.
