Fondazione Pesenti supports the design activities and supervision of the construction works of the Metiyagane Training Center in Sri Lanka.
The project “Aid for Sri Lanka – A Future for Children” launched in 2005 thanks to post-tsunami fundraising and the support of the Foundation, in collaboration with the local Salesian Congregation , concluded with the creation of a professional school complex including workshops, a dormitory, and a cafeteria.
The center is located in Metiyagane, in the western region of the island, away from the coast and 55 km northeast of the city of Negombo. The school is a technical and vocational type with a focus on construction, aimed at training resources to meet the local need for infrastructure and housing.
The center, designed for about 300 students, of whom 200 are boarders, offers nationally recognized courses.
A modern dormitory in a developing country: a facility that provides future and hope for new generations.
