Fondazione Pesenti continues its commitment to international solidarity by supporting the design and supervision of construction works for the Training Center in Metiyagane, Sri Lanka.
Conceived in the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami, the project was developed in collaboration with the local Salesian Congregation to provide educational and professional opportunities for youth affected by the disaster.
Construction Phases
The initiative has progressed in two main phases:
First Phase
Focused on the core infrastructure, including:
Urbanization works
Gymnasium
Boarding school for resident students
Cafeteria building with adjacent kitchens
Second Phase
Currently underway, includes:
Religious House: accommodation for Salesian priests and non-resident lay teachers
Laboratories: under construction and essential to meet the standards for NVQ Level 6 (National Vocational Qualification), equivalent to completing two years of an engineering degree at European universities or American colleges.
