Fondazione Pesenti supports the Amici Donatori di Sangue del Policlinico di Milano Association (Association of Blood Donors Friends of the Policlinico of Milan)

Fondazione Pesenti supports awareness campaigns promoting blood donation organized by the Association of Blood Donors Friends of the Policlinico of Milan, recognizing their high social and scientific value.

The demand for red blood cell units is particularly high in the Pediatric Surgery, Neonatology, and Neonatal Intensive Care departments. Additionally, several other major hospitals in Milan — including the European Institute of Oncology, the Monzino Cardiology Center, and the Gaetano Pini Institute — rely entirely on blood donations collected through the Policlinico.

The Transfusion Medicine Unit of the Policlinico of Milan also serves as a national reference center for the management of so-called “Rare Blood”, maintaining a bank of over 2,000 red blood cell units preserved for up to ten years.

In this context, Fondazione Pesenti’s support for the Association aligns with its broader philanthropic mission, contributing to the promotion of public health and the advancement of medical and scientific research.
