The two students from Bergamo who have won scholarships for a school year abroad, promoted by the Intercultura Foundation in collaboration with the Pesenti Foundation, were honored today in Bergamo at gres art 671. This initiative, launched in 2017 and aimed at outstanding students residing in and attending high schools in the province of Bergamo, has awarded a total of 29 scholarships over the years.
The study-abroad program includes staying with carefully selected host families, attending a local school, and being supported by a group of volunteers throughout the experience. Participants will also receive a certificate from Intercultura recognizing the skills acquired at each stage of the program.
This year’s scholarship recipients are:
Sofia P., enrolled at the “Belotti” School in Bergamo, will depart for a year-long program in the Dominican Republic. “Thanks to the Pesenti Foundation, I’ll be spending 11 months in the Dominican Republic. Traveling, discovering new places, and meeting new people has always been my dream, and I’m sure this experience will change me for the better. I know I’ll meet amazing people who will stay in my heart forever. I’m grateful to Intercultura for this opportunity, to the Pesenti Foundation for helping make my dream come true, and especially to my parents who have never stopped believing in me. ”
Thomas T., enrolled at the “Romero” School in Albino (BG), will spend a year in Poland. “I applied to Intercultura’s program to follow an unconventional path of study and life—and most of all, because I dream of living through travel. I clearly remember the day I found out I had won the scholarship: my heart started beating faster, and I was incredibly happy. I’m excited to leave and I look forward to discovering many aspects of Poland—from its culture and traditions to its magnificent cities—and to meeting many new people and forming strong bonds. .”
The event was attended by Mietta Rodeschini Denti, former Vice President and now Philanthropy Advisor of the Intercultura Foundation; Dragana Kladarin, scholarship office representative of the Intercultura Foundation; and Sergio Crippa, Secretary General of the Pesenti Foundation ETS.
Also present were Erica R. and Andrea S., last year’s scholarship winners, who had just returned from their year-long programs in Iceland and Sweden respectively. They shared their stories and offered encouragement to the students about to depart.
Sergio Crippa, Secretary General of the Pesenti Foundation ETS, emphasized: “With great pride, we are once again supporting two young students from Bergamo as they prepare to embark on a truly unique learning experience abroad. Since 2017, thanks to our partnership with the Intercultura Foundation, we have awarded 29 scholarships in the province of Bergamo alone, making a concrete contribution to the personal and cultural development of deserving young people. We strongly believe that experiences like this are essential to building a generation that is more aware, open to the world, and prepared to face global challenges with critical thinking and a sense of responsibility. ”
