Start Cup Bergamo 2021, 11th Edition | The best business ideas awarded

At Start Cup Bergamo 2021, the Special Prize by Fondazione Pesenti was awarded to Pamac – Patient Self-Management of Chronic Diseases, a project designed to support citizens over 65 in overcoming digital barriers in both social and healthcare contexts, facilitating access and strengthening digital health literacy.

The first overall prize went to LookPark, an app that helps users find parking.

Also awarded was ReHubAI, a platform connecting patients with therapists, integrating AI and video analysis tools to create rehabilitation programs.

November 7, 2021 – Once again, Fondazione Cav. Lav. Carlo Pesenti partnered with Start Cup Bergamo, the entrepreneurial training and mentorship program run by the University of Bergamo, which concluded by awarding the top three projects out of twelve finalists.

The award ceremony was held in the presence of the finalist teams, jury members, and faculty, including the Rector of the University of Bergamo, Remo Morzenti Pellegrini, and representatives from the event’s partners: Intesa San Paolo, Fondazione Pesenti, Ribo, Bergamo Sviluppo, Confindustria Bergamo, Sportello finanziario delle idee (Bergamo Diocese), STEP, and Studio Locatelli.

Brilliant in their ideas, confident in their presentation, and above all full of projects: the hope is that they will come to life, thanks also to a contribution and a cash prize.
They are the students of the eleventh edition of Start Cup Bergamo, the entrepreneurial training and innovative business idea development project of the University of Bergamo, which reached its final stage yesterday.

Pamac – Special Prize for Highest Social Impact

The project Pamac, Patient Self-Management of Chronic Diseases, aims to support patients over 65 in overcoming digital barriers, both in social and healthcare contexts, by promoting digital literacy—particularly in the use of the Electronic Health Record (FSE). Many elderly patients struggle to keep pace with the ongoing digital transformation of healthcare, often finding themselves excluded or overwhelmed. Pamac seeks to support existing systems, which frequently face interoperability challenges, and streamline bureaucratic processes that can slow down healthcare delivery and increase feelings of isolation and discomfort among the elderly.

Pamac plans to collaborate with organizations such as civil protection services, local pharmacies, municipalities, volunteers, and social services, offering practical support like transportation for medical appointments for citizens over 65.

A central element of the project is the introduction of a new professional figure: the Health Consultant (CDS – Consulente della Salute), a role that the current socio-healthcare environment demands but which is still absent in the system.

Pamac will interface with both the CDS and the digital component through the creation of an interoperable health data platform. This platform will help monitor the initial and ongoing follow-up of patients over 65, enabling social and healthcare fragility assessments based on a person’s functional and social status. It also includes risk stratification and monitoring with alert systems.

The service is designed with a subscription-based model, aimed at both patients and general practitioners/municipalities, ensuring sustainability and broader accessibility.
