Enrico Letta at Molte Fedi 2017

Friday, October 6, 2017 – Enrico Letta,  former Prime Minister, and Monsignor Franco Giulio Brambilla, theologian and Bishop of Novara, among the guests of the 2017 edition of  Molte Fedi sotto lo stesso Cielo,  supported by  Fondazione Pesenti, with the talk “The Idea of Europe: the Dream of the Past and the Reality of Today.”

What motivated, in the final days of the tragic Second World War, the great and generous European project in the founding fathers of a united Europe? What remains and what has changed over the intervening time? An assessment of the goals, prerogatives, opportunities, critical issues, and moral duties of today’s Europe and that of tomorrow, our children’s Europe.

Enrico Letta, a committed Europeanist, currently President of the Jacques Delors Institute and Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs at SciencesPo University, argues that when speaking about the EU, “we need to change the arguments because those used by our generation say nothing to young people. Faced with new challenges, old answers are no longer sufficient.”

Franco Giulio Brambilla, Bishop of Novara, Vice President for Northern Italy of the Italian Episcopal Conference, Dean for several years of the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy, has been a professor of Christology and Theological Anthropology.
