Vittoria Cornolti’s account from Germany – 2nd quarter

Vittoria’s story: from Bergamo to Oeversee (Germany) for one year, with Intercultura and the support of Fondazione Pesenti.

The journey continues!

First Term: September 2018
Second Term: December 2018

SECOND TERM: SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER 2018

Vittoria is sharing with us a monthly account of her wonderful experience abroad, made possible through the Intercultura year-long program in Germany.

Relationship with the host family:
I get along wonderfully with my host family. I feel completely at ease with them, and they are always kind to me.
Sometimes I cook for the family, and on weekends we watch movies together. We also went on a two-week vacation to Greece.

Relationship with the host community and friends:
I get along very well with the other exchange students in my city—they understand me and are very supportive.
My classmates have also started interacting more with me and sometimes invite me out to the movies or to eat together.

School integration and academic progress, both in terms of performance and relationships with teachers and students:
Things are going well at school: the teachers are very approachable, and I’m getting good grades.
In my language classes (Spanish and English), we often work in pairs, which gives me a chance to connect more with classmates.

Extracurricular activities:
In my free time, I play tennis, and I’ll soon start playing volleyball.
I often go out with friends or visit nearby cities. Every Sunday—and sometimes during the week—I cook for my family.

Three things I’ll never forget (positive):
The friendships I’ve built with other exchange students.
My birthday—it was made truly special by my host family.
The personal growth this experience is bringing me.

Three things I’ll never forget (negative):
The coldness of some people I’ve met.
The disappointment of falling in the middle of the street and no one offering to help.

Other:
My photos.
