In 2024, the Teatro degli Angeli was inaugurated—a new cultural space in the heart of Porta Romana in Milan. Created through the complete renovation of the basement hall of the Church of the Guardian Angels, the theater was conceived as a multifunctional venue, unique in the Milanese cultural scene, and fully accessible, with both audience seating and stage designed to be inclusive of people with disabilities. The project received active support from Fondazione Pesenti, which contributed to its realization with the aim of enhancing the local area and promoting inclusivity.
The artistic direction is shared by Gabriele Allevi, Luca Doninelli, and Giacomo Poretti, who also founded Teatro Oscar in 2019 with the intention of offering Milan a space for reflecting on its identity as a cultural capital. In addition to a rich theatrical program, Teatro Oscar is known for developing original formats such as Versus, Il Teatro del Lunedì, and Il PoretCast, which have become distinctive trademarks.
Teatro degli Angeli also hosts Casa Teatro Umana Mente, the first professional theater training school in Italy open to people with disabilities, created in collaboration with the Allianz Umana Mente Foundation and the University of Pavia.
