On December 13, 2018, the event MAJOR RISKS. AN INCREASING EMERGENCY was held at the Corriere della Sera Foundation. The focus was on new enterprises offering new technical and organizational responses , and how startups can be an innovative answer to emerging needs.

The event was moderated by Nicola Saldutti , Chief Editor of Corriere Economia.
Natural disasters and hydrogeological instability are becoming increasingly frequent and devastating. These events not only endanger human lives but also place a significant economic and social burden on affected communities.
Within this context lies the SHaReD project (Social Hazards Resilience in Disasters – “Grandi Rischi”), promoted by Fondazione Pesenti. In partnership with the SpeedMiUp initiative (a collaboration between Bocconi University and the Milan Chamber of Commerce), SHaReD aims to foster the development of innovative startups in the field of natural disaster management. The goal is to generate new ideas for forecasting, prevention, emergency response, and post-emergency support.
Key questions addressed during the event included:
What is the current state of national and European cooperation in this field?
Are there existing examples of interstate “insurance systems” or risk-sharing mechanisms?
What essential data points should guide the development of new solutions by future generations?
What role can foundations, universities, and institutions play in this scenario?
