The English-language volume “Bergamo 2.035 | A New Urban Concept” presents an updated summary of the research work carried out by the Bergamo 2.035 project, whose initial results were published in 2014 in a comprehensive volume written in Italian.
Both the preface and the introduction of this new publication are also presented in Chinese, as the Bergamo 2.035 initiative was selected as a model to be showcased at the Italian Pavilion during the 2016 China International Technology Fair (CSTIF) in Shanghai.

Given the uncertainties that characterize the technological, political, economic, and demographic spheres, imagining future scenarios might seem a complicated and, at the extreme, a wishful exercise. Nevertheless, one can attempt to create a vision of a possible future through a closer analysis of the present, starting from the constraints and opportunities presented by current developments.
Bergamo 2.035 represents a specific case of applying this logic or a defined territory where the peculiar characteristics assumed by the city are taken into account: its size and interactions with surrounding areas, its productive and cultural vocations—in short, all those aspects that make each individual territory a unique and unrepeatable “unicum.”
