Fondazione Economica e Sociale di Bergamo

Fondazione Pesenti makes a significant contribution to important initiatives aimed at promoting and supporting studies and research, both scientific and economic, as well as disseminating cultural topics related to the Bergamo territory.

Among many projects, the Foundation has chosen to support the Fondazione per la Storia Economica e Sociale di Bergamo (Foundation for the Economic and Social History of Bergamo) in the creation and distribution in schools of the book Attilio e Gino Rota: politica, economia e istituzioni negli anni dello sviluppo bergamasco (1856-1963), edited by Ivano Sonzogni, and the volume Ricordi e altri scritti by Professor Tancredi Bianchi.

THE HISTORY OF THE FONDAZIONE PER LA STORIA ECONOMICA E SOCIALE DI BERGAMO

The Fondazione per la Storia Economica e Sociale di Bergamo aims to promote, support, and encourage studies and research of a high scientific level on the economic, social, and institutional history of the territory and people of Bergamo.

Founded in 1988 thanks to the contribution and commitment of five founding members, it has progressively established collaborations with the main cultural institutions, public bodies, and leading companies of the city and province to boost research and dissemination of the driving factors behind Bergamo’s economic and social development.

In addition to the monumental Storia Economica e Sociale di Bergamo (Economic and Social History of Bergamo), the Foundation publishes: the series I Protagonisti (“The Protagonists”), which follows a dual path welcoming both monographs on important figures in Bergamo’s history and studies on business history; the series Studi di storia dell’economia, della società e delle istituzioni (“Studies in the History of Economy, Society and Institutions”), aimed at broader analyses; and the specialized series Studi di storia della sanità (“Studies in the History of Healthcare”).

ATTILIO E GINO ROTA: POLITICS, ECONOMY, AND INSTITUTIONS IN THE YEARS OF BERGAMO’S DEVELOPMENT (1856-1963)

The volume, published in 2017 in the I Protagonisti series, retraces in 150 pages the political, economic, and institutional biography of Attilio and Gino Rota, two protagonists of Bergamo’s recent history.

Ivano Sonzogni, the author of the work, sought to portray, through extensive and passionate research, the multifaceted figure of Attilio Rota, a personality characterized by deep freedom of choice and great moral rigor, who was able to embody the great traditional values of family while integrating them with those of a society and political class undergoing transformation.

RICORDI E ALTRI SCRITTI BY PROFESSOR TANCREDI BIANCHI

The volume Ricordi e altri scritti by Professor Tancredi Bianchi, published in 2018 in the I Protagonisti series, is a tribute from “his territory” to one of the most lucid and emblematic living personalities of the values of Bergamo’s identity and strength.

The book contains memories of his life, from his birth in the “ancient farming civilization” of Caravaggio on June 12, 1928, to his important academic and professional successes, including his degree and career at Bocconi University, and his encounters with the most important political, religious, and economic figures of contemporary times.

TANCREDI BIANCHI

Born in 1928 in Caravaggio and graduated from Bocconi University in Milan, Professor Tancredi Bianchi is one of the most enlightened minds on the Italian banking system, a dean among economists, and an emeritus professor at Bocconi University.

He is the author of numerous monographs and articles published in leading scientific journals in business economics and the economics of financial intermediaries.
