On the occasion of the canonization of Pope John XXIII in 2014, the Fondazione contributed to the dissemination of the National Edition of the Diaries and Agendas of Angelo Roncalli, curated by the Fondazione Scienze Religiose di Bologna, to the most important international libraries and apostolic nunciatures—an œuvre of great historical and human value.
The ten volumes of the Diaries and Agendas of Pope John XXIII constitute an essential source for understanding the human and spiritual profile of Pope Roncalli.
“Providence drew me from my native village and made me travel the paths of the world, East and West, bringing me close to people of different religions and ideologies, in contact with social problems, sharp and threatening, while preserving in me the calm and balance of investigation and appreciation: always concerned, while firmly adhering to the principles of the Catholic Creed and morality, more about what unites than what separates and arouses conflicts.”
In this brief excerpt, a synthesis of life, a declaration of humility, but above all a simple yet very clear statement of his scale of values, where human and Christian solidarity would always prevail in his actions, and the abolition of conflict through the search for mutual understanding would be his perpetual choice.
