Fondazione Pesenti supports Patronato San Vincenzo (St. Vincent’s Patronage)

Patronato San Vincenzo is a long-standing institution of the Church in Bergamo that has, for decades, welcomed individuals facing hardship and severe social marginalization. Hospitality is a cornerstone of the organization, supported by educational assistance and pathways toward social inclusion through a network of opportunities and solidarity.

In 2024, the Patronato launched a major renovation project for its facilities on Via Mauro Gavazzeni 3 in Bergamo, with the aim of improving accommodations for people in need. The construction works also present an opportunity to introduce a new hospitality model, centered on housing autonomy and active inclusion.

During this transitional phase, temporary accommodations became necessary in order to ensure continuity of care and uphold the dignity of the guests. The solution identified was the rental of temporary housing units, while simultaneously working to strengthen social housing opportunities through collaboration with other local organizations and institutions.

With attention to the needs of the local community, Fondazione Pesenti chose to support the Patronato during this critical phase. The Foundation’s contribution helped cover the costs of the temporary structures, thereby ensuring safe and dignified shelter for guests during the renovation period.

Alongside the management of this housing emergency, Patronato San Vincenzo remains committed to its mission: developing personalized projects to guide guests—both Italian and foreign—toward greater autonomy. This includes the rebuilding of family ties, collaboration with social services from their home regions, and inclusion in semi-independent housing programs under the guidance of a dedicated educational team.

Back in 2020, Fondazione Pesenti collaborated with Patronato San Vincenzo on an important literacy and Italian language improvement project aimed at foreign nationals residing within the organization’s facilities.

The Foundation provided funding to support the initiative, which lasted one year. Thanks to these resources, Patronato San Vincenzo was able to offer high-quality Italian language courses, appropriate educational materials, and ongoing support for participants.
