The commitment of Fondazione Pesenti continues with support for the project 2+ MILLION KM, an important fundraising initiative that also involved employees of Italmobiliare S.p.A. and the group’s portfolio companies.
This was a non-competitive event where institutions, companies, and individual citizens took to their bikes for a single victory: converting the kilometers cycled into donations in support of Dynamo Camp’s Recreational Therapy activities and the youth cycling activities of the Italian Cycling Federation.
A total of 2,157,066 KM was reached, exceeding the event’s goal, with 1,254,417 KM donated by registered individual cyclists and corporate teams contributing to the fundraising, plus 902,649 KM covered during the 4 weeks of the event by FCI clubs and the Giro d’Italia Giovani Under23.
In total, 1,435 cyclists registered, either individually or grouped in teams, aggregating 2,907 donations, which, combined with corporate donations, raised a total of €123,283. By registering, participants cycled all over Italy, on roads and trails.
Half of the funds raised will be donated to the Italian Cycling Federation to support youth cycling activities, and half to Dynamo Camp. FCI will use the funds to intervene directly in 140 cycling schools across Italy, organizing between 20 and 30 promotional events starting from February 2021, involving over 5,000 young people aged between 5 and 15 years.
Each event will be open not only to registered members of each Cycling School but also to any young people present on the day who want to try the courses set up. Dynamo Camp will use the funds for its Recreational Therapy activities, which it offers free of charge each year to over 1,600 children and teenagers aged 6 to 17 suffering from serious and chronic illnesses, at Dynamo Camp, and to more than 5,000 others reached in hospitals, associations, and foster homes throughout Italy: climbing, archery, horseback riding, swimming, and even in hospitals, radio, theater, musicals, and circus, all aimed at fun and recreation but above all to help them regain confidence in themselves and their abilities.
The organizers expressed great satisfaction with achieving the result in this historic period and are already planning the 2021 edition.
