The collaboration between Fondazione Pesenti and LILT – Lega Italiana per la Lotta contro i Tumori (the Italian League for the Fight Against Cancer) – continues in 2026.
Since 2021, Fondazione Pesenti has supported LILT in an innovative personalized cancer prevention pathway, Mammorisk, which in 2023 evolved into Senorisk, an extension of the program targeting new population groups: women under 40 and men with a family history or genetic predisposition to the disease—two groups previously excluded from systematic screening programs. For 2026, the Foundation’s support is dedicated to the project “Artificial Intelligence in the Service of Breast Cancer Prevention.”
Over the course of the year, LILT Milan will introduce artificial intelligence software in its clinics to assist radiologists in the analysis of mammograms. The use of AI enables radiologists to focus on the more complex aspects of the diagnostic pathway and to dedicate more time to patient relationships and the promotion of healthy lifestyles—core elements of LILT’s mission. In a context where the demand for prevention continues to grow, this innovation represents a concrete response to ensure increasingly timely and accurate diagnoses. In parallel, LILT Milan will conduct research on the perception of artificial intelligence among women, physicians, and technicians who attend or collaborate with its clinics.
The aim of this project is to understand how this innovation is received, as well as the expectations and potential concerns surrounding it, in order to foster an increasingly informed and aware culture of prevention.
