Fondazione Pesenti for SaraCasa

Fondazione Pesenti continues its support in 2025 for “SaraCasa: a place to start over”, a project by Fondazione Diakonia, the operational arm of Caritas Bergamasca. The initiative was created to draw attention to the vulnerable conditions of children and single mothers and to work with them to build a better future.

SaraCasa is a women’s shelter located in an 18th-century villa in Monterosso, known as Father Aldo’s House. It provides accommodation to women—alone or with children—who are experiencing temporary housing insecurity due to job loss or the inability to pay rent or mortgage. The center also supports them in rebuilding their autonomy and life plans.

The project aims to provide hospitality and guidance to the families hosted, ensuring their basic needs are met and helping them overcome various forms of vulnerability, including psychological ones. It supports mothers and children in envisioning and working toward the future they desire.
Key goals include:
Ensuring that the children receive school supplies and textbooks, as well as access to extracurricular activities, which are essential for their healthy development and social inclusion.
Offering vocational training courses and paid internships to the mothers to help them find employment within the local community.
Creating a guarantee fund to assist women in securing independent housing after completing the support program with Fondazione Diakonia.
