Great Performances for Children (Grandi Spettacoli per i Piccoli) | Italmobiliare Group and Pesenti Foundation

In collaboration with the Italmobiliare Group, Fondazione Pesenti has supported the initiative since 2017, confirming its contribution again for the 2024 season.

The project by Teatro alla Scala in Milan, “Great Performances for Children“, dedicated to schools, continues with the staging of The Little Sweep, the children’s opera by Benjamin Britten, directed by Lorenza Cantini.

“The Little Sweep“, composed by Benjamin Britten in 1949 for the Aldeburgh Festival, is an opera designed to introduce children and young people to music. It was written to be performed even by non-professionals in simple venues like schools and parish halls, with the goal of making music accessible to all.

Rich in melodies and varied styles—waltzes, marches, sea shanties, and lyrical themes—the opera is a journey through musical language, designed to educate and captivate younger audiences. At its heart lies a powerful message: it is the children, through their sensitivity, who take responsibility for good and justice.
