The awardees are 15 deserving students from Lombardy, Campania and Piedmont. They will all leave this summer for a three-month program in Europe.
The winners of the call for proposals were awarded at the Milan headquarters of Fondazione Pesenti; they are deserving students who will benefit from a scholarship to attend a school term abroad, placed with local families and assisted by Intercultura volunteers. Departures are scheduled during the summer of 2024. At the end of the term, students will receive a certification from Intercultura of skills acquired during the program.
Now in its third year, the “A Scuola in Europa” initiative was created through a partnership between the Agnelli Foundation, the Carlo Fondazione Pesenti Ets and UniCredit Foundation together with the Intercultura Foundation. The project, which puts 15 scholarships up for grabs for totally free programs in Europe and involves a total investment of 140,000 euros, has a distinctive feature: it is dedicated to deserving girls and boys from technical-professional institutes, who often have fewer opportunities to study abroad than those studying in a high school.
The award ceremony was attended by Giorgio Barba Navaretti (University of Milan), Sergio Crippa, secretary general of Fondazione Pesenti, Letizia Dottorini, program manager of UniCredit Foundation, Andrea Franzoi, secretary general of Intercultura, and Barbara Romano, researcher at Fondazione Agnelli.

Also present with them were three winning students from last year’s edition, Giorgia Agostinelli (former scholarship holder in Portugal), Edoardo Filippini (former scholarship holder in France) and Elena Trapletti (former scholarship holder in Flemish Belgium), who told the departing students about their experience and gave them valuable advice and suggestions.

Sergio Crippa, Secretary General of Fondazione Pesenti Ets “We are pleased to renew our support for this innovative educational project, which was among the first in Italy to introduce cultural exchange paths in Europe for students in vocational institutes and has been cited by the Ministry of Education and Merit as a virtuous example to look to in order to internationalize the technical and professional supply chain. The awards ceremony, which we were delighted to host again this year at our Milan headquarters, was a valuable opportunity to meet in person the departing girls and boys, along with their families, and hear the stories of those returning. Seeing the joy, enthusiasm and passion of these students is an additional incentive for all of us to continue to invest in the education of young people, also to help them grow as citizens of a united, cohesive and supportive Europe ”.
