Giampiero Pesenti (1931-2019)

Engineer Giampiero Pesenti was one of the key figures in Italian finance and industry, founder and Honorary President of Fondazione Pesenti.

BIOGRAPHY

He was born in Milan on May 5, 1931.

He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan and an honorary degree in Management Engineering from the University of Bergamo.

He began his career in 1958 at Italcementi, becoming first General Manager, then CEO, and finally Chairman until the change of control of the company in 2016.

In 1984 he took on the role of Chairman and CEO of Italmobiliare (Chairman from 2014 to 2016).

In addition to serving on the boards of several leading Italian and international companies over the years, he was Vice President of Confindustria from 1992 to 1996.

In 1977, he was appointed Grand Officer, and in 2009 he received the rank of Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

In 1989, he was awarded the high honor of Knight of Labor.

In 2004, he was decorated by the President of the French Republic with the honor of Knight of the Legion of Honor.

He passed away in Bergamo on July 24, 2019.
