Giordano is sharing with us, month by month, his amazing experience abroad, in the city of Weston, thanks to the year-long Intercultura program in the USA.
I’ve fully integrated. I have lots of friends and many people want to get to know me. It’s wonderful, especially now, being able to speak with anyone in English and seeing that everyone understands you.
Relationship with the host family:
Everything is going great with my host family. It was wonderful to fully integrate and feel like part of the family 100%. We often do activities together.
Relationship with the host community and friends:
I’ve fully integrated. I have lots of friends and many people want to get to know me. It’s wonderful, especially now, being able to speak with anyone in English and seeing that everyone understands you.
School integration and progress, both in terms of academic results and personal relationships with teachers and students:
The American school system is completely different from the Italian one, and it has both positive and negative aspects. School is going well and I find it very easy to get good grades. The teachers are always very supportive.
Extracurricular activities:
Extracurricular activities are going really well. Right now, I’m on the ski team. We’ve had many competitions, even outside Wisconsin. My relationship with the team is great. In spring, I’ll be joining the tennis team.
The 3 things I will never forget (positive):
The race in La Crosse, Wisconsin. It was a competition where all the best skiers in Wisconsin competed.
Valentine’s Day dinner with my family.
My brother’s birthday.
The 3 things I will never forget (negative, if any):
Honestly, nothing comes to mind.
Other (anecdotes, thoughts, reflections):
I’d like to thank you again for this wonderful experience. I’m becoming much more mature and independent.
