Agreement between Fondazione Pesenti, Bocconi University, and Zaragoza Logistics Center on the establishment of the PhD program in Logistics and Supply Chain Management with the University of Bergamo.
Advanced training and research activities
Providing advanced training and initiating research activities in the management of integrated logistics processes and the relationships between companies and the global network of logistics and production services. These are the objectives of the PhD program in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, launched in the 2007/2008 academic year at the Department of Business Economics of the University of Bergamo, thanks to the agreement signed with the Fondazione Cav. Lav. Carlo Pesenti.
Education at the core of the Fondazione’s goals
Among the Fondazione’s goals is education and training as the foundation of innovative and growth processes, and through this agreement it contributes to activating the course by providing funding of 900,000 euros for scholarships and operational expenses. The scientific validity and teaching excellence of the initiative are also ensured by agreements signed with Bocconi University of Milan and Zaragoza Logistics Center, which since 2005 has been a partner of the prestigious MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in Boston.
Bocconi University of Milan contributes to the realization and organization of the PhD program by having its faculty participate in the Teaching Board, the Strategic Steering Committee of the course, as well as carrying out teaching activities.
The agreement with Zaragoza Logistics Center envisages a collaboration between the two institutions to develop the teaching and research activities promoted within the PhD program, aiming to implement a joint study program in the short term. The collaboration includes exchanges of students, faculty, and researchers.
PhD students promoted by the University of Bergamo will attend training courses at Zaragoza Logistics Center and vice versa. There will be exchanges of visits by faculty and researchers with the goal of conducting joint research, discussing experiences in relevant sectors, and encouraging the organization of seminars, lecture series, conferences, and workshops.
The agreement
The agreement also aims to create a scientific center of excellence in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in Bergamo. The Vice Rector of the University of Bergamo, Prof. Angelo Renoldi, coordinates the course, and the teaching staff consists, in addition to professors from the University of Bergamo and Bocconi, of foreign faculty experts in logistics and supply chain management from the following institutions:
Warwick Business School, UCLA, MIT-ZLC, MIT Boston, Cranfield School of Management, IMD, Erasmus Rotterdam School of Management, Tel Aviv University, European Institute of Purchasing Management, New York Polytechnic, and ESSEC Paris.
The agreements with Fondazione Cav. Lav. Carlo Pesenti, Bocconi University of Milan, and Zaragoza Logistics Center were signed today in the Council Chamber at the via Salvecchio headquarters of the University of Bergamo.
Present were Rector Alberto Castoldi, Fondazione President Giovanni Giavazzi, Bocconi University delegate Alberto Grando, and Executive Director of Zaragoza Logistics Center Santiago Kraiselburd.
