Agreement between Bocconi University and Fondazione Pesenti for scholarships for foreign students.
The project called Bocconi International Merit Awards will involve 30 students coming from Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
Project objectives
Internationalization and support for deserving students: these are the two goals around which Bocconi University and Fondazione Cav. Lav. Carlo Pesenti have come together. The two institutions signed an agreement worth 1.2 million euros (600,000 euros funded by the Foundation and an equal amount by the university) for awarding scholarships to deserving foreign students enrolled in the specialized two-year degree courses starting in the academic years 2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10.
The Bocconi International Merit Awards project and the collaboration with the Foundation are part of the fundraising campaign launched by the university on Via Sarfatti to support its 2005-2015 strategic plan. The campaign aims to raise 100 million euros over 10 years to finance the university’s internationalization projects; specifically, to strengthen English-taught study programs (currently 23, ranging from bachelor’s to PhDs), as well as faculty and student body development.
With this initiative, Fondazione Cav. Lav. Carlo Pesenti continues its commitment to internationalization and its collaboration with the academic world with the goal of training young people from emerging countries. The Foundation combines the social growth policy of the Italcementi Group and works to support education and entrepreneurial culture within the principles of Sustainable Development for businesses.
A total of 30 foreign students will benefit from the scholarships supported by the Foundation—ten students for each of the three editions of the two-year degree courses covered by the agreement. In addition to exemption from tuition fees, worth 10,000 euros per year, and free accommodation on campus, students will receive an annual allowance of 4,000 euros.
Students competing for the Bocconi International Merit Awards supported by the Foundation will come from emerging countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
