The Culture of Water

Fondazione Cav. Lav. The Fondazione Cav. Lav. Carlo Pesenti, particularly sensitive to everything related to creating a “culture” of environmental respect, considers it fundamental for the good of future generations to highlight the importance of optimized use of natural resources.

The promotion of the Acquagame initiative fits into this framework and aims to engage children on the important topic of water culture.

Water is the most precious resource on Earth, and every form of life depends closely on it for survival.

Current generations have the duty to adopt a responsible and aware attitude, recognizing that water is a renewable but limited element that risks becoming scarce for urban, agricultural, and industrial uses.

For this reason, the Foundation gladly supported Adventerra Games’ initiative for distributing Acquagame, a board game designed and created for students in grades 3, 4, and 5 of elementary schools. The game’s goal is to teach children the importance of adopting the right attitude to save water to ensure enough for everyone and to encourage them to develop water-saving habits in everyday life.

acquagame2The Foundation, in collaboration with Adventerra Games, promoted the distribution of ACQUAGAME in public elementary schools of the municipalities of Bergamo and Milan as an alternative tool to attract children’s attention to the importance of water as a resource, to educate them to an environmentally correct mindset, and to convey important values of solidarity, respect, and cooperation.

Education and information are fundamental to give a future to these generations themselves, to improve the quality of their surrounding environment, and to leave them ample availability of natural resources.

This commitment to environmental respect also emerged from questionnaires sent to teachers asking for an assessment of Acquagame’s usefulness.

The results confirmed that Acquagame is a didactic tool that complements lessons on the topic of water and has served as a stimulus to change behavior and as a useful means to achieve other social goals.

Adventerra Games creates, produces, and distributes board games on environmental themes that teach how to safeguard our planet through simple daily habits to follow at home, work, and school.

Adventerra Games was founded to create games with educational/social purposes and mechanisms balancing competitive spirit with teamwork. Games are produced and distributed through alliances with other organizations worldwide. Non-profit organizations such as Greengames.org raise funds to distribute games to end users in schools, summer camps, and environmental protection organizations.

The founder of Adventerra Games is Bryan Mundell (PhD, Cornell University), an expert in game simulations for over thirty years, and founder of the Cornell University Simulators Association in 1975.

Prof. Mundell has ten years of experience designing and using simulations to teach courses such as Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management in the Master Division at Bocconi University, School of Management in Milan, and other university institutions both in Europe and the USA.
