A new Board of Directors has been appointed. Giampiero Pesenti is named Honorary Chairman. Carlo Pesenti becomes Chairman. Alongside family members, the board includes prominent representatives of civil society and academia, with a strong international outlook.
July 26, 2016 – The Fondazione Cav. Lav. Carlo Pesenti, representing the sole shareholder Italmobiliare S.p.A., convened in Bergamo to appoint the new Board of Directors, which will remain in office for the next three years. Carlo Pesenti has been named Chairman; the Board also appointed Giampiero Pesenti as Honorary Chairman.
Fondazione Pesenti now positions itself as a platform to promote and disseminate a culture of innovation, understood as the development of ideas, projects, and actions capable of creating a positive impact on a social, environmental, and cultural level. The Foundation will foster modern forms of interaction among the public sector, the private for-profit and non-profit sectors, by designing sustainable solutions to address major social challenges. In addition to its traditional areas of interest—protection of the national historical and artistic heritage, scientific and educational programs, conferences and outreach publications, humanitarian and social solidarity projects—the new focus areas aim to promote and support initiatives that positively impact the creation of socially meaningful new enterprises, particularly by the younger generations.
The New Board
The Board has appointed Carlo Pesenti, CEO and General Manager of Italmobiliare S.p.A., as the new Chairman. Pesenti succeeds Giovanni Giavazzi, who previously led the Foundation.
““On behalf of the new Board, I wish to express heartfelt thanks to Giovanni Giavazzi, who launched and nurtured the Foundation, making it a major actor in promoting economic and social development. Over the twelve years of the Foundation’s recent history,” emphasized Carlo Pesenti, “Mr. Giavazzi has been able to interpret the spirit behind initiatives in the cultural, educational, and charitable spheres directed both at the Bergamo community and at international stakeholders with whom the Foundation engaged during its essential first phase.
Among the most significant projects are the collaborations with Italian and foreign universities—most notably the Bergamo 2.035 initiative, developed with UNIBG and Harvard Graduate School of Design—ongoing support for scientific research, humanitarian aid in Sri Lanka after the 2004 tsunami, sponsorship of the Palma il Vecchio exhibition during EXPO 2015, international conferences on current economic and social issues, and partnerships with the Associazione BergamoScienza.
Confident that his contributions over the years provide an indispensable foundation for future developments, the Foundation is now committed to becoming a true resource for the territory, with an international perspective and an entrepreneurial approach to developing socio-economic initiatives.”
The Board also thanks Dario Massi for his service and Italo Lucchini, a Board member since the Foundation’s inception, who has accepted a new term.
In line with these values, the Foundation has appointed a renewed, authoritative Board of Directors composed of highly qualified and experienced individuals. Alongside the small group of family members, who have always been active in social engagement and in the city of Bergamo, the Board includes influential representatives of civil society and academia, with a strong international focus.
The Board
The Board is composed as follows:
– Carlo Pesenti (Chairman)
– Giovanna Mazzoleni (Vice Chair)
– Giorgio Barba Navaretti
– Ferruccio De Bortoli
– Matteo Kalchschmidt
– Marco Imperadori
– Italo Lucchini
– Donato Masciandaro
The Board appointed Giampiero Pesenti as Honorary Chairman of the Foundation; Sergio Crippa was appointed Secretary General, responsible for the operational management of the organization.
Extending best wishes to the entire new Board, Carlo Pesenti expressed great satisfaction with the inclusion of new members, who bring international prestige and expertise, and who, together with the representatives of the Pesenti Family, will help consolidate the vision and initiatives of the Foundation.
