Beatrice is sharing with us, month by month, her amazing experience abroad, thanks to the year-long Intercultura program in the USA.
They can’t even be called a host family anymore. They are my family. I really feel great with them. Every now and then we have a small argument, but that’s normal. Facing things together is important!

Relationship with the host community and friends:
I’ve made real friends. We spend a lot of time together and leaving them will be really hard. Right now, we’re getting ready for prom, one of the most anticipated events of the whole year.
School integration and progress, both in terms of academic results and personal relationships with teachers and students:
School here is definitely easier than my Italian high school, but there’s a lot less stress and they teach you to think for yourself—they don’t just teach you the rule directly. The teachers are very good and always ready to help.
Extracurricular activities:
I’m part of the track team. It’s a lot of fun—running takes effort and dedication, but with the help and support of teammates, everything is easier.
The 3 things I’ll never forget (positive):

Finding out my host sister is pregnant.
The birthday party with all my friends.

Being chased in Chicago by a drunk man.
Getting stuck at school because of a snowstorm.
Other (anecdotes, thoughts, reflections):
I want to thank my sponsor once again for giving me this amazing opportunity. I feel like I’m truly part of this life, and there’s no better feeling.
